EN ISO 13982-1

The EN ISO 13982-1 standard specifies the minimum requirements for protective clothing against chemical products resistant to the penetration of airborne solid particulates. These garments are full body protective clothing such as one or two-piece suits protecting the trunk, arms and legs with or without hood or visual screens, with or without feet protection.

Depending on the level of risk for which this protective clothing is designed, the personal protective equipment belongs to one of three categories:

Category I: simple protective clothing (low risk).

Category II: clothing protecting the wearer against hazards (different than the other two categories).

Category III: protective clothing (high-risk) protecting the wearer against potentially fatal hazards or severe and irreversible health problems.

If chemical protection is always classified under category III, protection against solid particles, such as particulate protective suits, is generally classified under category I, which entails a low risk.

This standard only applies to airborne solid particulates. This standard cannot be applied to other forms such as solid chemical products.
